Illini Cash - The Convenient Way To Pay
Illini Cash allows you to add cash value to any active University of Illinois i-card, visitor card or conference card. Illini Cash can be used to purchase food, printing, books, computer equipment and other select services across campus.
Purchasing Illini Cash
There is no fee to open or use Illini Cash and it’s easy to add money with a credit card online or through the Illinois app. There is a minimum $5 purchase required, and active accounts do not expire. Illini Cash is not refundable once it is put on your i-card and cannot be transferred to another person.
Illini Cash balance information can be accessed through the University Housing website or via the Illinois app.

Problems Adding Illini Cash?
If you indicated you have a preferred name through Self-Service, please make sure to enter the preferred name when adding Illini Cash.
Example: Robert Smith entered the preferred first name Bob in Self-Service. He would need to use the first name Bob when adding Illini Cash.
If you get this error message Sorry, we can’t find your UIN in our database. Please verify that your UIN, First Name and Last Name match what is on your i-card.
Fees for Illini Cash Balance Accounts.
Illini Cash stays on your i-card as long as you have an active i-card. Once you have a balance, it is non-refundable. It won’t go away over semester or summer break. If an account with a positive balance sustains no activity for 12 months or more, the account will be determined to be inactive. 5% of the balance at the point the account became inactive will be assessed monthly until one of the following occurs:
- Account activity returns it to active status.
- The account balance reaches $0.

Fees for Illini Cash Balance Accounts
If an account with a positive balance sustains no activity for 12 months or more, the account will be determined to be inactive. 5% of the balance at the point the account became inactive will be assessed monthly until one of the following occurs:
- Account activity returns it to active status.
- The account balance reaches $0.

Refunds from Illini Cash Balances
