Residence Hall Libraries
The Residence Hall Libraries are one of the great benefits to living with University Housing. Come and study, get research tips, join a book club, or pick up the latest DVD or video game.
Your Neighborhood Library System
The Residence Hall Libraries are located in or around the campus University Housing Residence Halls, including three halls in Urbana (in the basements of Allen, FAR, and ISR) and one in Champaign (on the second floor of the SDRP, "the Ike"). Undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff are welcome to check out items from our wide selection of popular books (fiction and non-fiction), DVDs, CDs, magazines, and video games. All you need to check out our materials is an active I-Card. We divide our collection into a General Circulating Collection (which includes non-fiction and historical and contemporary fiction) and several special sections: Jobs and Careers; Multicultural, Diversity, and Social Identity; Mystery and Thriller; Personal Development; Romance; Science Fiction and Fantasy; Study Guides; and Women’s Studies. Many of our locations feature unique collections for the ten University Residence Hall Living-Learning Communities. These collections include materials that can serve as resources for students in LLCs and inform the student population of how each LLC is so unique and exciting! We also offer Spanish-, Chinese-, and Korean-language collections housed in the FAR, Ikenberry, and ISR Libraries, respectively. This is a great way to explore the diversity of each residence hall.
Students love to spend time studying and reading in the comfort of our libraries. Students, faculty, and staff can reserve items from any on-campus library or location within the I-Share system for pick-up at their nearest Residence Hall Library—a wonderful way to get what you need right inside the residence halls! Our libraries also have special programs and new items throughout the year. We hope to see you soon!
