Stay On-Campus for Spring Break

Complete a Spring Break Housing Contract

The undergraduate residence halls close on March 17 at 3 p.m. and open March 25 at noon. Spring break accommodations are available March 17–25.

  • Residents requesting break housing will be housed in a limited number of converted lounge spaces in ISR, PAR, or Snyder.
  • Only current residents of Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Halls (PAR), Illinois Street Residence Halls (ISR), Florida Avenue Residence Halls (FAR), and Snyder Hall will be permitted to remain in their own rooms during the break; however, these residents still must submit a Break Housing Contract and will be subject to the same charges.

The deadline to complete an online Spring Break Housing Contract is March 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Cost

The rate is $40 per night. The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by March 15. 

Please note: There is no additional charge for spring break housing for Global Crossroads residents. You must still submit a Break Housing Contract.

Location

Residents requesting break housing will be housed in a limited number of converted lounge spaces in ISR, PAR, or Snyder (except current residents of PAR, ISR, FAR, and Snyder who may stay in their own rooms). Each lounge will have a bed for each break resident (up to 4 students will be assigned to each lounge.) Note: The beds are bunked, except in PAR.

Check-in at ISR, PAR, FAR, and Snyder will start at 9 a.m. on March 17.

Meal Options

Residents of break housing may purchase an optional meal plan that provides 19 meals over the break for a flat rate of $150. The non-refundable charge will be billed to your student account unless the reservation is canceled by March 15. Note:Residents of Global Crossroads who select the meal plan will receive a charge for $150 on their student account for the meal portion of the contract.

Meals will be served in the lower level dining room at Illinois Street Residence hall (same location as Chomps, but items will not be a la carte). If you select the meal plan option, meal plan access will be coded on to your i-card. Residents of break housing at PAR will have card access to ISR during meal periods.  

Meals begin with brunch on March 18 and end with dinner on March 24

Sunday Meal Times

  • Brunch: 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30–7 p.m.

Monday–Friday Meal Times

  • Breakfast: 8:30–10 a.m.
  • Lunch: noon–1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30–7 p.m.

Saturday Meal Times

  • Brunch: 11a.m.–1:30 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5:30–7 p.m.

Students who are not staying for the entire break may purchase individual meals with a credit/debit card or with Illini Cash. Semester meal plans are not active during Spring Break and Café Credit is not available to use during this time.

Standard door rates plus sales tax will apply for meals purchased with Illini Cash or credit/debit card:

  • Breakfast: $9.21
  • Lunch/Brunch: $11.72
  • Dinner: $15.26

Reservations Required

The deadline to complete an online Spring Break Housing Contract is March 16 at 10:30 a.m.

 There are a limited number of spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis. After March 16, break housing will be provided if any spaces remain or become available due to cancellations.

  • FAR desk (217) 333-0840 — Once break starts, the FAR desk will be closed. Please contact PAR if you need assistance.

Any student without a Break Housing Contract who accesses a building during a break period will be assessed the full break housing charge amount. In addition, any student who accesses a hall without a break housing contract will also be referred to either the Residential Life judicial process or to the University Police for trespassing.

Desk & RA On-Duty Hours

The Snyder, ISR, and PAR desks are open 10a.m.–10 p.m. daily during the break periods. FAR break residents should contact the PAR desk for assistance.

An RA is on duty every day 10 p.m.–10 a.m. and is available by phone from the exterior callbox to let someone in who arrives to their break housing hall during spring break. The desk or RA on duty will assist the resident in completing the Break Housing Contract on arrival.
