Purchasing Extra Credits
Extra Credits provide added flexibility to your dining choices. They can be purchased at any time by students, faculty or staff and can be used to purchase food items at a la carte locations or to purchase classic meals held in residence hall dining rooms. They can also be used to purchase meals at the Illini Union Ballroom.
Extra Credits can be purchased online with a credit card or at any area office with cash or a check, with no minimum required. Extra Credits never expire as long as a person has an active i-card.
One credit is valued at one cent.
Using your i-card for Meals or Laundry
Purchasing meals with your i-card is simple— first, add Extra Credits to your i-card online or at a residence hall front desk with cash or a check. When you enter the dining hall or Illini Union Ballroom, an attendant will swipe your i-card.
(Note: Extra credits are not accepted at Fat Don's specialty restaurant; only Classic meals and Café Credits can be used at Fat Don's.)
Residents can also use Extra Credits for laundry. No need for rolls of quarters! Just add Extra Credits as described above, and then follow the instructions that are posted in your laundry room.

- Dinner: $11.95 (1195 credits)
Guests (price includes tax)
- Breakfast: $7.49 (749 credits)
- Lunch: $9.64 (964 credits)
- Dinner: $12.88 (1288 credits)
