ADV 199 THE COMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY: Places, Practices and the Pillsbury Doughboy

This course covers a variety of topics designed to help students learn more about the communication industry, including the organizations, people and practices that make things happen in advertising, public relations, journalism and media.

Study of leadership theories and their application to the development of leadership skills. Students develop a personal philosophy of leadership and prepare a development plan for enhancing leadership skills.

Studies the major myths of Greece and Rome and their impact upon later art, music, and literature.

EOL 199 INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATION & SERVICE-LEARNING: Leal Primary School

Do you enjoy working with children? Are you interested in volunteering in a local school? Work with students and teachers while learning more about schools! This class meets on Thursdays for a discussion section and then you will schedule an additional 3 hours per week at a local school observing, volunteering, and helping in classrooms.

EPSY 220 CAREER THEORY AND PRACTICE (2nd 8 Week Course) Gen Ed: BS

Various behavioral science theories will be covered (e.g., person-environment interaction, decision-making, group dynamics, stereotype threat, personality traits). Students will develop a working-knowledge of these theories through interactive lectures, guided class discussions, case-based readings, and group activities.

SHS 111 LIVING-LEARNING ASL PART I

An introductory course in American Sign Language (ASL). The focus is on the acquisition of beginning-level vocabulary items and grammar of ASL. Students develop a core vocabulary and basic grammar to enable you to communicate using ASL.

ESE 389 Environmental & Sustainable Field Expedition to Costa Rica

Field expedition to Costa Rica over spring break (approx. 9 days) and weekly seminar. The course will use Costa Rica as a case study to examine environmental and sustainability issues. Students will be responsible for the field trip expenses ($2,727).
