Undergraduate Residence Halls
You are strongly encouraged to arrive on your designated move-in day (Thursday, August 20, 2009 for new freshmen and transfer students, and Tuesday, August 18 for new residents of Living-Learning Communities who have registered for LLC orientation; Saturday, August 22 for returning students).
We encourage you to arrive as close to your designated move-in day as you can. We are able to provide the best service to you on that day (I-Guide assistance, hall programming, parking and traffic control, and staff availability). However, if moving in on a weekday causes your family significant hardship, we are happy to assist you.
If you need to move in prior to your designated move-in day, you may do so as early as Sunday, August 16, at 12 noon. There are additional fees of $50 per night for moving in early.
Please note that I-Guides will only be available to assist with move-in on August 20 except for the Living-Learning Communities. Moving carts can be checked out from your area office for one hour with a student i-card and a $5 deposit that is returned if the cart is returned in one hour.
Group early arrival: Only approved groups (such as Marching Illini and ROTC) will be permitted to move in early. Students arriving early for testing will receive a letter noting their new approved check-in date and times. If you are on the list as a member of an approved early arrival group, you will be able to move-in at a prorated nightly rate based on hall and room type. Daniels Hall and Sherman Hall
If you are a Sherman or Daniels resident and you wish to move in earlier than Wednesday, August 19, you must submit an Early Arrival Request.
