About Extra Credits
Extra Credits can be purchased at any time by students, faculty, or staff. They can be used to purchase food items at a la carte locations, for all-you-care-to-eat meals held in residence hall dining rooms, or for lunch in the Illini Union Ballroom. Extra Credits can be purchased through the web with a credit card, with no minimum required (computer kiosks are located near front desks for your convenience). Extra Credits never expire as long as a person has an active i-card.

Using Extra Credits for Meals
To use Extra Credits for an all-you-can-eat meal in one of our dining halls, one credit is valued at one dollar.

- Deposit $25-$50 and get an extra 5% credits FREE
- Deposit $50.01-$199.99, and get an extra 10% credits FREE
- Deposit $200 or more and get an extra 15% credits FREE
Dining Hall Meal Rates for Faculty, Staff, and Students
- Breakfast: 8.43 Extra Credits, includes sales tax* (7.36 if using Cafe Credits)
- Lunch: 10.66 Extra Credits, includes sales tax* (9.31 if using Cafe Credits)
- Dinner: 13.97 Extra Credits, includes sales tax* (12.21 if using Cafe Credits)
- Late Dinner (available in PAR and ISR): 10.66 Extra Credits, includes sales tax* (9.31 if using Cafe Credits)
Dining Hall Meal Rates for Children Under Age 12 (Accompanied by an adult)
Children are welcome, too! Children under age 5 (accompanied by an adult) may eat for free.
- Breakfast: 3.75 Extra Credits plus sales tax, if applicable*
- Lunch: 4.75 Extra Credits plus sales tax, if applicable*
- Dinner: 6.25 Extra Credits plus sales tax, if applicable*
*Meals paid for with credit card or Extra Credits are subject to sales tax. Meals for children paid for with Cafe Credits are not subject to tax.
Illini Union Ballroom Lunch Buffet
The Illini Union Ballroom lunch buffet is open to all, and the price of $9.95 (or 9.95 Extra Credits) includes dessert, beverage, and sales tax. Seniors (age 65 & above) receive a discounted lunch rate of $8.94 (or 8.94 Extra Credits). Children age 12 and under can have lunch for $5.00 (or 5.00 Extra Credits). Children age 4 or under eat for free. Pay by cash, check, credit card, Extra Credits, or department account number.
Using Extra Credits for Laundry
You can even use your Extra Credits for laundry! Simply add credits to your i-card and follow the directions as posted in your laundry room (this option available in the residence halls and Goodwin-Green apartments).
