Allen :  Louisa Allen (1848-1920). Professor of Domestic Science, Preceptress of the University, promoter of women's education. Married to John Milton Gregory, first Regent of the Illinois Industrial University (University of Illinois).

Babcock : Kendric C. Babcock (1867-1932). Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, provost.

Barton:  Herbert Jewett Barton (1853-1933). Professor of Latin, chair of the Classics Department.

Blaisdell:  Daisy Luana Blaisdell (1866-1952). On the faculty of the Department of German, social director of Busey Hall.

Busey:  Mary E. Busey (1854-1930). Member of the Board of Trustees from 1905 until her death.

Carr:  Robert F. Carr (1871-1945). Member of the Board of Trustees, president of the Alumni Association and the University Foundation, chair of the Memorial Stadium building committee.

Clark:  Thomas Arkle Clark (1862-1932). The first person anywhere to hold the title "dean of men." Became a legend during his 30 years of service.

Daniels: Arthur Hill Daniels (1865-1940). Professor and head of the Department of Philosophy, acting dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, dean of the Graduate School, and acting president of the University.

Evans:  Laura B. Evans (1860-1932). Member of the Board of Trustees from 1903 until her death.

Forbes:  Stephen Alfred Forbes (1844-1930). Civil War soldier, dean of the College of Science, chief of the State Natural History Survey, professor of Zoology and Entomology. A state park in Marion County is named after him to recognize his many contributions to Illinois.

Garner: James W. Garner (1871-1938). Authority on international law; head of the Department of Political Science.

Hopkins:  Cyril G. Hopkins (1866-1919). Pioneer in scientific agriculture and head of the Department of Agronomy.

Leonard:  Maria Leonard (1880-1976). Dean of Women from 1923 to 1945. Early advocate of higher education for women.

Lundgren:  Carl Leonard Lundgren (1880-1934). Baseball coach at Illinois and played for the Chicago Cubs.

Oglesby:  Richard J. Oglesby (1824-1899). Farmer, Major General of the Eighth Illinois Regiment, three times governor of Illinois, signed the original charter founding the Illinois Industrial University (University of Illinois).

Saunders: Alta Gwinn Saunders (1886-1948). Chair of the Division of Business English and director of the Alumni Association.

Scott: William Franklin Scott (1877-1950). Professor of English, began the journalism curriculum at the University.

Shelden: Miriam A. Shelden (1912-1975). Dean of women and dean of student personnel, influential in developing equal opportunity porgrams for women, minorities, and the disadvantaged.

Sherman:  Stuart Pratt Sherman (1881-1926). Distinguished teacher in the Department of English, editor of Books and the New York Herald Tribune's literary magazine.

Snyder:  Edward Snyder (1835-1903). Professor of German and literature, Commandant of the Military Department, professor of modern languages, dean of the College of Literature.

Taft:  Lorado Taft (1860-1936). Sculptor, writer, and inspired teacher. Sculptor of the Alma Mater statue and the statues at the Library and Foellinger Auditorium.

Townsend:  Edgar Jerome Townsend (1865-1955). The University's first mathematician, head of the Department of Mathematics, acting president of the University.

Trelease:  Leah F. Trelease (1894-1957). Teacher in the Department of English, dean of women.

Van Doren:  Carl Van Doren (1885-1950). Author, historian, critic, and teacher; awarded Pulitzer Prize for his biography of Benjamin Franklin.

Wardall:   Ruth A. Wardall (1877-1936). Nationally known head of the Department of Home Economics.

Weston:   Nathan A. Weston (1868-1923). First dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration, supporter of the University Library.
